    PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY AND GOALS

The Three R's Program: Relapse, Recovery, and Rehabilitation, based on The Murphy-Moller Wellness Model, provides cost effective treatment that assists individuals with neurobiological disorders to achieve a level of wellness that facilitates symptom management and relapse prevention in a manner that can eliminate hospitalization and assist integration into community life.

Neurobiological disorders such as schizophrenia, the bipolar spectrum disorders, major depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorders present a health challenge that can interfere with one's level of wellness.

The stigma and discouragement associated with these disorders can interfere with one's life. Focusing on what one can do to achieve wellness rather than focusing on how severe the disease is will result in better health and a higher level of wellness. It is important that people with a chronic neurobiological disorder establish a level of wellness that allows them to live in the environment of their choosing and to do things they enjoy.

DEFINITIONS OF THE RELAPSE, RECOVERY, AND REHABILITATION PHASES OF THE THREE R'S PROGRAM

The Relapse Phase is defined as a return of symptoms of enough severity to interfere with activities of daily living. This phase entails accurate differential diagnosis based on completion of the Moller-Murphy Symptom Management Assessment Tool II and The Universal Symptom Typology.

The Recovery Phase is defined as resumption of normal interpersonal relationships and ability to complete usual activities of daily living. This phase entails completion of the 12-week education program "Recovering From Psychosis: A Wellness Approach" that is based on the Moller-Wer Model of Simultaneous Consumer/Family Education Regarding Psychosis.

The Rehabilitation Phase is defined as working toward achievement of desired life goals. This phase entails addressing symptoms, symptom triggers, health, environment, attitudes and behaviors, and social support all within the context of managing a chronic illness. Clients complete the 9-week symptom management course entitled Symptom Management: A Wellness Expedition.
