The Three R's
Psychiatric Wellness Rehabilitation Program is based on the
Murphy Moller Wellness Model to provide cost effective
treatment to assist people with psychiatric disabilities such
as schizophrenia, major depression, bipolar disorder, panic
disorder, PTSD, and obsessive compulsive disorders to achieve
a level of wellness that promotes symptom management, prevents
relapse, eliminates hospitalization, and assists the person to
integrate back into community life through achievement of life
goals.

Relapse/Unstable level of wellness:
Definition: Symptoms are severe enough to interfere
with the usual activities of daily living and may require
treatment by a mental health professional. The level of
wellness is unstable and the severity of symptoms may be life
threatening.
Treatment Goal: to stabilize the
individual's level of wellness.
Psychoeducational
Component: The Moller-Murphy Symptom Management Assessment
Tool is used to identify target symptoms, symptom triggers,
and symptom management strategies as well as to type symptoms
in one of 6 symptom type categories.
Recovery/Stable level of
wellness:
Definition:Symptoms are under control.
The person is able to do basic self care. The level of
wellness is stable.
Treatment Goal: to teach skills
related to a wellness lifestyle, symptom management and
preventing relapse.
Psychoeducational component:
Individuals are taught about diagnosis, medications, and
coping with a chronic illness. The course Recovering From
Psychosis: A Wellness Approach is the cornerstone of
recovery.
Rehabilitation/Actualized level of
wellness:
Definition:Symptoms are in the
background allowing the individual to achieve the actualized
level of wellness.
Treatment Goal: to assist the
individual to gradually integrate back into the community.
Existing community resources are accessed as needed. Coaching
in needed life skills and productive use of leisure time is an
important component.
Psychoeducational component:
The course Symptom Management: A Wellness expedition
uses a workbook approach to support this phase.
TREATMENTS FOR RELAPSE PHASE
Treatment aim is stabilization through the use of
specialized interventions, such as medications, anxiety
reduction and communication techniques that decrease intensity
of hallucinations and delusions.
The treatments help stabilize illness symptoms and assist
the individual, family members and providers to recognize
prodromal symptoms and triggers in order to prevent future
relapse.
